Gul considers his visit to Armenia “risky but right step
ARMENPRESS: President of Turkey Abdullah Gul during his speech about political leadership in Stanford University spoke about his to Armenia. Armenpress reports Gul said that good leader must be able sometimes to run a risk and as an example of it mentioned the fact of visiting Yerevan on Serzh Sargsyan's invitation and watching together football match. "During the last 20 years we did not almost have any diplomatic relations with Armenia. The importance of that invitation was very great for leaders who had contradictions with each other. For internal policy it was a risky step: it could cause problematic issues in foreign policy too. The visit of Turkish President to Yerevan had the aim to regulate for at least a little the relation of two nations. I still hope. Our visits became symbols of normalization of Armenian-Turkish relations. Even if it was risky but was a right step" said President of Turkey.
